Micaela Castrillo Vargas

I was born in Bolivia, and at the age of 4, I moved to Chile. I grew up with a multicultural family, between airplanes and always in the air; maybe that's why I have not been able to have my feet rooted in one place for a long period.
Or that’s why I'm an aerial acrobat.
In 2019, I migrated to the Netherlands to study
“Circus and Performance Art”, graduating in June 2023 from ACAPA (Academy of Circus and Performance Art), specialized in aerial rope with my movement research: controlled, chaotic, dynamic, poetic, with disjointed movements. This
movement research I applied on the air as well as on the floor.
Having big eyes makes me expressive on and off stage. Also, my
Latinoamerican roots give me fire and energy to always be in movement and resist life-art.
My performances and creations are a mix of poetry, political expression in different forms, and, sometimes, insights from Latin America.
After graduating, I have worked with Zirkus Chnopf, a Swiss circus company. As well as doing my own creation, "La Cosecha" with Cia Insurgentes.
Doing Dinner-shows and performing my acts in different avenues and countries.

In the last few years, after graduating from circus school, I have been teaching occasionally. With my experience and my own approach to the body, I can see results in people.
Language is not a barrier; with patience and a good explanation, everybody can understand. I have the experience of it. I beleive in the power of non-verbal communication.
